A food license is an authorization granted by the Food and Safety Authority of India, to an industrial unit, for carrying out specific food processing activities. In other words, a food license is required in order to produce or process any type of food.
When is a food license required?
A food license is always required if an industrial unit proposes to produce or process any type of food. The owner of an industrial unit must also have a food processing activity registered with the FSSAI under the Food Processing Regulations, 2011 if they are proposing to undertake any new or additional food processing activity.
Who needs a food license?
Only industrial units that carry out specific food processing activities require a food license from the FSSAI. This includes all organizations that engage in the production or processing of foods, including those organizations engaged in manufacturing, importing and exporting foods as well as those engaged in providing catering services.
What are the documents required for a food license in Kanpur?
To apply for a FSSAI license, you must submit documentation that includes your business registration certificate, proof of ownership of the premises where the business will be operating, and information about your employees.
